The Alchemist
Its been 7 days I’m reading the book “The Alchemist “ .I Just
completed the book & I’m spell bound of
the book just can’t think this could be possible But before giving the summary I would love to give a hint to
the new readers . As in our daily life we search of
something very desperately which is just near us like a rubber band in our own hand,
cell phones in our pocket. The book is not entirely the same thing but u can
relate to it with this example.
It is a story of the boy Santiago A shepherd who loves
travelling who believes in his dreams ,loves reading books being a shepherd He
became shepherd because he loves travelling his family wanted him to be a
priest he went against them & told them what he actually wanted to be .
Which most of us don’t have the courage to do so even I don’t have the courage
the tell my parents what I want in life. He
loved travelling & he was doing that no matter as a shepherd.
One night he was at the church seeing the sky with all his
sheep using his book as a pillow which he use to read .He had a good life with
his sheep he use to talk to them and they use to listen to them, which he
called the Universal Language which his sheep could understand. Then he met an
Gypsy woman & told her about his dream of the treasure in the Egypt Pyramids. She said she will tell
him only if he promise to give some percent of treasure which he is going to
get. She told him to follow his dream go to Egypt.
After that he met an Old king who was just sitting beside
him told about his past he believed in the old king. The old king said to
believe in his dream & go ahead in his life on the way to fulfill the dream
& he asked him to follow the omens. He said that he go to those people who
aspire to fulfill their dream. By this I get to know that if u ever think of your dream there will be someone who will show
you the way you have to just find who is the person & where is the person.
After that the boy started his journey by giving some of his sheep to the old
king & the old king gave him 2 stones Urim
Trimium which were to show the right way to the boy.
The boy sold all his
sheep got the money & started his journey. The old king thought that the
boy is never going to remember him but the boy remembered him at every aspect
of his way & in life. This happens to us that we don’t contact the person
thinking that he might not remember us that’s not always true.
After he started the Journey he was robbed then he
took out his stone & thought that is the old king still with him
& he got the answer as urim (yes) & met a crystal merchant worked their
two years to get money to buy sheep he gave different ideas to the merchant to
build his business back & the merchant gave him share of his profit when
the boy told the merchant about his dream the merchant said he can make a
pyramid at the backyard of his house, Then the boy said that the merchant never
had a dream the merchant said that he follows Islam and in Islam their
obligation is to go to Mecca.
The merchant believed in “Maktub” (everything is written). He thought that one day he would
have money would to Mecca for sure, but didn’t had the privilege to go. The boy
understood & thought every person in this world has a dream but very few
follow their dreams.
After 2 years .The boy got the money he required & left
the merchant he then thought that he could buy sheep anytime in his life and can live like a Shepherd but he should at
least try to achieve his dream on the same café he decided to go on the way of his
dream. According to me we can live a normal life anytime but at least we
should try and fight for that abnormal dream life. After that he met an Englishmen
who was in search of The Alchemist.
They
together started towards the Sahara Desert the Englishman wanted to go to he
Oasis where The Alchemist (he is a man
who is 200 years old who turned lead into gold) lived. Then they both
started the journey on the camels while they were travelling smoothly talking
to the camel driver they got to know that there are tribal wars and that they
should be aware and one day there was the roaring of the camel which was an
omen that tribes are nearby that made the
boy again understood the universal
language before that the camel roaring was not so special for him.
After
that they went to oasis oasis was very beautiful with 300 wells and 50 thousand
date trees. They were settled in their tent the their in search of Alchemist he
found Fatima he was in love with Fatima .He understood what love is and then he
said to Fatima that he loves him she asked to follow his dream that she is a desert girl she will wait for
him.
One day he saw an
omen the floks fighting he understood that something is going to happen
tomorrow he told that to the chief
the chief ordered him that if there was no war he was going to be killed. I
understood at every point in life there is death you should be ready for it.
That day he met the
Alchemist who pointed towards the south telling if you are alive tomorrow meet
me Next day everyone was ready for the fight after everything he was alive with
the gift from the chief.
He again went to the Alchemist. He told him to follow his
dream and also encouraged him once a while he thought to live in oasis with
Fatima and as the omen reader the alchemist told him the future. Also made him
believe in love that he will come back to Fatima. Before leaving he met Fatima
& promised to come back like her father.
They again
started their journey the alchemist advised him to listen to his heart. His
heart was not ready as the heart don’t
like hurt, even in our life we are scared because there is no confirmation
of the thing. But he made heart understand & finally his heart
understood.
They met
many tribes who were ready to kill them But with the alchemist intelligence
they were alive. But one tribe who caught them the alchemist said that the boy
can fly in 3 days. He tried very hard but can’t get a way then one the third
day while he was in front of the tribes where he should fly he talked to desert
to wind to the sun as he know the universal language to talk no one could give
him a way then Soul of the World helped him which is nothing else his own
sole the boy found himself on the another corner
The boy
could fly this proved that no body can help its only you who can help your own self. They left them & both
of them started their journey again they
reached Coptic Monastery. Which was the last destination of the Alchemist
the he asked the Monk to allow him his
Kitchen there he turned lead into Gold . To make the boy realize that it could
happen.
He broke the gold in 4 parts gave one to the monk one to the
boy one he kept for himself another one he gave to the monk that if the boy
loses his the monk could give him as he believes in the things which happens
one would not happen but the thing which happen twice can happen again. The boy
had lost his money twice. They went on their own way after that the boy finally
reached to the pyramids his heart had told the treasure is where your tears had
been dropped. He was excited & happy as he fulfilled his dream.
He started digging the sand to get his treasure but suddenly
the tribes appeared they asked him what was he doing they took his gold He
started digging as he couldn’t find anything the tribes started beating him
very badly. He was exhausted and told them he is searching treasure here.
They thought he is a mad person they left before leaving one
of the person came to him and said I too had a dream that I could get the
treasure in the church in the Spain and he went. The boy now realized where his
treasure his in the same church where the day he was sitting with his sheep.
The boy asked wind why didn’t you tell me he said that then you would not have
seen such beautiful pyramids. The reason
why the Alchemist had left one piece of extra gold with the monk.
The boy
went to the church & got his treasure & realized & he gave some
percent to the gypsy who showed him the away as promised. And then He said Fatima I’m coming.
According to me the life has taught him different lessons in
search of his dream He met various people learnt a lot of things gave me Fatima what all a man needed . It
suggests that to follow our dream we are going to get a lot of difficulties but
if we overcome that we are going to reach to our dream and that feeling is
awesome I can feel the feeling of Santiago after reading the book. This book
made believe that dreams can be true if we just go on the right path without
losing hope and giving up.
